Do you believe in Feng Shui? I do! You may scoff at the notion that sleeping, sitting, even eating facing a certain direction is ridiculous. It does sound ridiculous, til you read up on the deeper meaning of why Feng Shui is actually considered “scientific” rather than just mere superstition.
I am not an expert in Feng Shui, but I have felt the benefits from changing up certain things in my room and household and the use of favorable colors in my wardrobe (and living and working spaces to boot). If I were ever asked why I feel it works it’s because when done properly, Feng Shui actually works on an energy level, plugging you into the right “socket” as it may. It never hurts to find the proper frequency that will best enhance different areas of your life. In other words, if the favorable direction, due to the vibratory path or flow of energy is for you to sit in the South East for example for financial wealth, is it really going to hurt if you shift your chair or desk to that position? Think about it, we’re all wired differently, so, if the luck power outlet is a 220V by sitting in the South East, why are we thinking we’re going to be luckier this year if we’re sitting in a place that only gives us a 110V boost?
The best thing to do of course is to hire someone who is schooled in the science of Feng Shui. Choose carefully of course, and be willing to pay a certain price. You wouldn’t go to a cheap architect or interior designer to make your home sturdy and beautiful, so why are you going to scrimp on paying a proper geomancer who could make your own life more sturdy, stable and beautiful? There are of course, like in any profession lots of “bad” geomancers out there so feel free to ask around and get recommendations. Like doctors, its best to get a word of mouth recommendation from a trusted source rather than scouting around for someone with incredible market skills, and only that.
For a little introduction into Feng Shui, I would recommend Lillian Too’s website: http://www.wofs.com/
you can also take a look at her cures and enhancers for 2011 per animal zodiac sign as well as what to put in your home or office to enhance all lucky sectors for 2011.
Is this all just one big shopping scam? Or are you turned off by some of the more kitschy items that you have to place? You’re not alone, it is my fondest wish actually that someone starts designing cures and enhancers that are, dare I say it, not so gaudy and caricature-ish. Hopefully that day will come soon, so houses and offices that are not Oriental in design will not be too thrown out of wack with a bright gold and red statue of an angry looking Pi-yao or Chilin.
In any case, eat those pineapples, and small oranges (known as kiat-kiat) for added luck as we celebrate the end of the Wood Tiger Year and the Birth of the coming of the Metal Rabbit at midnight tonight.
Whether you believe in the power of Feng Shui or not, I’d like to wish you all a kinder, gentler, more benevolent and very, very blessing filled Year of the Metal Rabbit! 新年快乐普通话 or Xin Nian Kuai Le!!!!
